The adsorption of this enzyme obeys the Tyomkin adsorption isotherm. It has been established that the catalase immobilized on soot and graphite takes part in the electrochemi cal oxidation of phenol. The enzyme activity of catalase immobilized on both types of soot was studied on the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide. The kinetic and activation parame ters of the processes studied have been determined.

Activity of catalase adsorbed to carbon nanotubes: effects of carbon nanotube surface properties.

Nanomaterials have been studied widely as the supporting materials for enzyme immobilization. However, the interactions between enzymes and carbon nanotubes (CNT) with different morphologies and surface functionalities may vary, hence influencing activities of the immobilized enzyme. To date how the adsorption mechanisms affect the activities of immobilized enzyme is not well understood. In thi...

Enzyme-Gelatin Electrochemical Biosensors: Scaling Down

In this article we investigate the possibility of scaling down enzyme-gelatin modified electrodes by spin coating the enzyme-gelatin layer. Special attention is given to the electrochemical behavior of the selected enzymes inside the gelatin matrix. A glassy carbon electrode was used as a substrate to immobilize, in the first instance, horse heart cytochrome c (HHC) in a gelatin matrix. Both a ...

A Review on Direct Electrochemistry of Catalase for Electrochemical Sensors

Catalase (CAT) is a heme enzyme with a Fe((III/II)) prosthetic group at its redox centre. CAT is present in almost all aerobic living organisms, where it catalyzes the disproportionation of H(2)O(2) into oxygen and water without forming free radicals. In order to study this catalytic mechanism in detail, the direct electrochemistry of CAT has been investigated at various modified electrode surf...

Effect of Nano-TiO2 Immobilized on Activated Carbon, Zeolite Y and ZSM-5 on the Removal of Styrene Vapors from Polluted Air

TiO2 is a very well-known and well-researched material due to the stability of its chemical structure, biocompatibility, and its physical, optical and electrical properties. In this study, the synergistic effect of nano-TiO2 immobilized on activated carbon, zeolite Y and ZSM-5 on the removal of styrene vapors from polluted air was investigated. The prepared catalysts were characterized by SEM, ...

Modified Glass Carbon Electrode (GCE) Electropolymerized Polypyrrole Nanofibers with Hemoglobin (Hb) Film as a Unique Biosensor for Nitrite Determination

Abstract: In this study, we were investigated behavior the electrochemical reductionof nitrite at a hemoglobin (Hb) immobilized on glass carbon electrode (GCE) containingpolypyrol nanofiber (ppy) films. Polypyrrole (PPy) nanofibers have been constructed onGCE applying electrochemical technique, and can to deposit diverse polymers onminiaturized electrodes with this commo...
